We are currently working on building a client dashboard for our SEO customers. This will replace our traditional reporting methods of using Excel and everything will be done online. Our target launch date is January 2010

Our Excel report effectively advises clients of:

Keyword Rankings for their chosen keyword
% of front page coverage
Goal Activity
Number of visitors / Increase from previous month
Source of Visitors / Month by Month
Activities carried out that month

As an SEO Client, what else would you be interested in seeing in an online portal?

If the development goes well we might also look to provide this as a package for other SEO Companies.

Ian, does your new report cover the time that you have spend on the project that month? Also, I think I would like to see milestones for the project, in other words what are you looking to achieve and the time frame for those milestones.

Is this new portal a project management system of some sort that would allow for tickets, or requests from the clients to be input?

Another useful tool would be a discussion board for the project so that there is a central place to discuss the project.

Lastly, I appreciate all of the information that you are placing in the report, but bounce rate was not addressed in the features that you listed. I would think that is critical as well.

Yes, it will effectively be a tool for SEO clients to access to see the progress of their projects online. My initial intention is to make this available to my own clients, and depending on how successful it is I may open it up as a product for other SEO companies to use.

Ian, we have a tool that would accomplish all of the above and it is open source. I believe that Nick has given you access to one of the projects. Would this maybe take care of everything that you are looking to achieve?
