If your website is one of your marketing tools, it is important to be sure it is doing everything it can do generate leads. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter if you are getting 10 or 100 visitors to your website each day if no one is calling or emailing you for more information.  There are several ways to convert your website visitors; here are three simple tactics I see many people forgetting to do.  They deal with providing relevant information as quickly as possible to your visitors.

1.) Make sure your phone number is in the text of every page.  With the number of people who search the internet with their phones, it is crucial to not only have your phone number large in the header (preferably top left) - you need to make sure it is in the content of your website pages too.  More often than not, someone will search for a service or product on their phone and want to call. Because the majority of people today have "smart phones," any phone number in text will be a hot link to make their phone call directly.  If the phone number is an image in the header, it would require someone to memorize your phone number and go to the keypad part of their phone and call.

When it comes to conversion, speed is the key!  Do not allow someone time to search for your phone, make it apparent on every page.

2.) Create landing pages for certain keywords and link appropriately.  More and more people are getting very sophisticated with how they search for things in the search engines.  At our Denver SEO company, we have noticed that the search volume of long tail keywords has increased over the last 8 months meaning people are getting more detailed with their search terms.  What does this mean for you and your seo campaign?  You need to accommodate the search trend that is developing.

Web Design HelpWith the number of people using the internet and search on Google, Yahoo and Bing your website could be one of your biggest marketing tools for your business. As someone who helps business owners improve the way they use the web to help grow their business I often come across similar mistakes no matter what industry or what size the business. We are all so wrapped up in our own business and industry it often hinders us to be objective when it comes to our own marketing.

As a business owner there are four big question you should be asking yourself about your website - (1.) What is the actual purpose of my website? (2.) How are people finding my website? (3.) Is my website producing any leads for my company? (4.) Is my website designed appropriately for my appropriate target market? By asking yourself these questions it will force you to start thinking about your website in a different way then you probably did when you had it built. Lets take a look at why these questions are important:

(1.) What is the actual purpose of my website? There are a few different reasons for people to have a website, why do you have yours? Often times when you think about this more questions come up: Is it for people to get more information about your company and services? Did you create your website just to say you had one? Does your website have any helpful tools for customers? Did you create your website to help drive new business? Once you figure out the purpose of your website you can start to focus on how to use it.

“Look at the flow and navigation of the site” the developer says! Google along with many other popular search engines respond “I don’t care.” “The flash is too busy, there is no text, and the navigation is impossible” the Googlebots further explain (that’s if the Googlebots were able to talk, and they can’t).

Getting ranked on the first page of all of the major search engines might be the most effective marketing out there. When a website is fully optimized, it will be targeted to thousands if not millions of searchers looking for the services or products that website offers. However, unlike other advertising options, there is a lot more work involved with getting your website onto the first page.

If you know a little about Search Engine Optimization (SEO), you probably have a good understanding how content, keywords, and Meta tags affect an SEO campaign. In the past, these elements were the only vital steps needed to achieve good results on search engines. Like everything in life, things change. Now the more accurate and much larger search engines have a long laundry list of what they use in their algorithm to rank the order of websites. Although these elements have a place in today's SEO campaigns, there are much more time intensive activities involved such as article and video submissions, link building, social networking.
